All Street Gallery - Nothing But Trouble

"Nothing But Trouble," curated by Sammy Bennett & Kat Ryals, is currently on display at All Street Gallery in NYC from Nov 2nd to the 28th. The curators kindly invited me to set up one of my installations alongside my printed pieces featured in the show.

On the evening of the 2nd, I transformed the back room (a small bathroom) at All Street Gallery in the East Village, creating Light Bath portraits with some of the artists and attendees at the show. This was a particularly enjoyable and whimsical endeavor, in line with a key component of my work – meeting people where they are and creating wherever the opportunity arises.

Due to the abundant black negative space in my portraits, the location of my work becomes a bit of a mystery. The focus is on the subject and the energy they convey through their photo from our mini collaborative Light Bath experience. The location is not what's important.

The two pieces featured in the show were, as usual in my work, created in unconventional photo spaces. One was crafted in my small basement, and the other came to life during Art Basel in Miami inside a large shipping container on the beach.

Creating these portraits for people in a very small bathroom in the back of a bustling gallery is fitting, emphasizing the comfort and ease people experience when entering a Light Bath and immersing themselves in my light.
